Update:

4/23/2008 The Governor has signed the update to the Safety Ropes law. Now we have to wait a few days to see if the Department of Labor is ready to issue the regulations by May 1st. If they do it gives departments until November 1, 2008 to comply, otherwise the September 2007 date is still in effect. Also of note, this update bill allows for departments to take advantage of the New York State Municipal Revolving Loan Program for financing the purchases of the systems. There is a lot of confusion out there about what these ropes are all about, please contact us so we can help guide you in the right direction.

3/3/2008 It appears that the update to the NYS Law on the Safety Ropes for Firefighters has passed. This bill has now passed both the Senate (58 - 0) and the Assembly (132 - 004) and is currently returned to the Assembly for processing.

Basically this means the DOL should have the regulations set by May 1, 2008 and that the employers affected will have to be compliant by November 1, 2008.

8/1/2007 New York State enacted a law requiring employers to provide safety ropes and system components to firefighters. We understand all the intricacies to this and will be offering seminars to help you make an informed decision on the purchase of equipment, inspection, and training.
